Hello, teacher Lio! In this sentence ''He could have been stealing from that house.'' Why do we need to use (stealing ) ing. Could you please explain it for me? Your explanations really help me. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR UPLOADING THESE LESSONS FOR FREE.
You use stealing because you have the verb to be (been), and after be , if you mention another verb , you normally use the ing form. Ex. She is cooking. (Is) is the verb to be, so the next verb after be (cook) needs ing. They have been drinking a lot. The verb be in this sentence is (been) and after (been) is you mention another verb , it needs ing. I hope the answer helps you! 😃
